WIRELESSPT Wireless Charging Solution for Mobile Robots: Driving AGV/AMR to Achieve Unmanned Operations 24/7

With the rapid popularization of intelligent manufacturing and smart warehousing, AGV and AMR mobile robots have become the core carriers for material flow in factories and warehouses. The industry is increasingly demanding continuous operation capabilities of equipment, and the shortcomings of traditional battery replacement and mechanical contact charging methods have gradually become prominent. The charging环节 often becomes a key bottleneck restricting the implementation of unmanned operation of mobile robots. Non-contact wireless charging is becoming an important development direction for energy replenishment of mobile robots.

The traditional charging mode has many practical limitations. The battery replacement solution highly relies on manual intervention, requiring multiple sets of spare batteries, resulting in high labor and storage costs; the mechanical contact automatic charging relies on the connection of metal electrodes, and operates in dusty, humid, and oily conditions for a long time, where electrode wear and oxidation are inevitable, easily causing contact failure and sparking hazards, requiring regular maintenance and replacement of spare parts, and it is difficult to truly achieve 7×24 hour unmanned operation.

Based on self-developed magnetic coupling resonance technology, WIRELESSPT has created an industrial wireless charging solution for mobile robots, divided into integrated wireless chargers and split-type wireless chargers in two hardware forms, matching different production lines and operation scenarios.

The integrated wireless charger integrates the transmitter and receiver in a single package, with a compact structure and simple installation and debugging. When the mobile robot reaches the preset workstation and stops, it can automatically complete charging, and can directly reuse existing workstations and loading/delivery points, without the need for a large charging area. The system has good position offset tolerance capability, does not require the robot to achieve millimeter-level high-precision docking, reducing the threshold for vehicle navigation modification. The equipment transmission efficiency is stable, supports two start-up logic of proximity charging and scheduling instructions, can be connected to WMS and MES scheduling systems, and can complete fragmented charging during the waiting period for loading and unloading, effectively reducing the time loss caused by the robot's dedicated return for charging, improving equipment operation rate, and is more suitable for new equipment pre-installation, standardized warehousing, and ordinary manufacturing production line projects.

The split-type wireless charger adopts a power unit and coupling coil separated architecture, with the receiving end coupling coil being thin and small, suitable for mobile robots with limited installation space. For the renovation of old equipment and models with limited interior space, the installation can be completed without significant changes to the vehicle structure. This solution is more flexible and suitable for renovation projects of existing AGV/AMR, narrow-passage carts, and lightweight chassis robots, etc.

The WIRELESSPT hardware system fully considers the complex industrial conditions, with the transmitter and receiver using high-protective sealed shells, which can adapt to diverse environments such as clean workshops, low-temperature cold storage, and outdoor factory areas; there are no exposed conductive contacts, which fundamentally avoids the risks of metal friction dust generation, arc discharge, and sparking. The product power covers the range of 180W to 6000W, compatible with various battery specifications such as lithium-ion and lead-acid. The equipment is equipped with CAN/485 communication interfaces, and the charging voltage, temperature, and fault status can be uploaded in real time, supporting predictive maintenance of the equipment.

From a long-term operation perspective, the initial hardware investment of wireless charging is higher than the contact-based solution, but eliminating periodic wear parts such as electrodes and connectors, significantly reduces maintenance manpower and spare parts expenses; at the same time, the fragmented charging mode increases the effective operation time of the robot, and the comprehensive benefits of the entire life cycle gradually emerge.

Looking at the industry development trend, wireless charging for mobile robots is evolving towards higher power, multi-device compatibility, and more application scenarios. With continuous cost optimization, wireless charging will gradually shift from an optional configuration to a necessary infrastructure for unmanned projects. WIRELESSPT focuses on the actual working conditions in industrial scenarios, continuously iterating and integrating both integrated and split types of wireless charging products. It provides safe and reliable non-contact power supply solutions for AGVs, AMRs and other types of intelligent mobile equipment, helping the intelligent manufacturing industry achieve truly unmanned continuous production.
