When robots start to be "selective": How modular wireless chargers can adapt to diverse industrial scenarios

In the field of industrial automation, there is a change that is often overlooked: Today's mobile robots are becoming increasingly "selective" in their charging requirements.

Robots in different scenarios have completely different demands for charging methods. Some need to navigate through narrow shelf tracks, with the chassis compressed to the limit; some need to operate continuously in damp dust for 24 hours, with extremely high reliability requirements; and some are retrofitted equipment, with the vehicle body structure already fixed and not easily modifiable.

Facing these diverse demands, WIRELESSPT Technology Co., Ltd. recently launched modular 1200W and 3000W wireless chargers, which are a response to this trend. Through topological technology iterations, the modular products have achieved more flexible installation adaptability while maintaining high power output.

The core value of modular design: Put the right thing in the right place

The essence of modular design is to separate the "brain" and "heart" of the wireless charging system.

The power conversion unit is responsible for power processing and intelligent control, which can be installed in a position with relatively spacious vehicle body space; while the energy coupling unit only retains the coil part, with the thickness compressed to a few tens of millimeters, capable of easily being embedded in a narrow space that was originally not even wide enough to fit a single finger.

The direct benefit of this "separation" is that engineers no longer need to reserve a large continuous space for the charging module when designing or retrofitting robots, but can "fit in" according to the vehicle body structure.

In a warehouse automation renovation project, the remaining thickness of the four-way shuttle vehicle's chassis was only 30 millimeters. Traditional integrated chargers could not be installed due to excessive thickness, while the modular product's coil part could be easily embedded - this means that equipment that was previously considered "unfit for wireless charging" now has the possibility of being integrated into the automation system.

Two solutions coexist: Returning the choice to the customer

In WIRELESSPT's product portfolio, modular is a supplement to the product line.

Integrated represents the company's technical accumulation in power density and structural compactness, suitable for new construction equipment or scenarios with ample space, ready to install without additional considerations for the separation layout of the controller and coil.

Modular, through topological optimization, achieves smaller coil dimensions, providing another possibility for space-constrained equipment. Whether it's a retrofitted project or a new type of equipment with severely compressed chassis space, it can find an adaptation solution from this.

The coexistence of two solutions behind it is a simple concept: Customer needs are diverse, and product solutions should also be flexible.

From a single solution to multiple path options

In inspection robots for power conduits, explosion-proof equipment in chemical parks, and AGV fleets in automotive manufacturing workshops, WIRELESSPT's integrated and modular products are all functioning in their respective applicable scenarios.

For equipment integrators, having multiple options means more precise matching. There is no need to modify the vehicle body design to accommodate the charging module, nor to give up the convenience of wireless charging due to space limitations.

For manufacturing enterprises planning automated production lines, the existence of these "choice questions" precisely reflects the depth of the technical supplier's understanding of the industry - truly knowledgeable manufacturers will not let customers pay for features they don't need, nor will they let customers compromise due to technical limitations.

In a manufacturing base with an annual production capacity of 20,000 sets in Yantai, the products of both solutions are being produced concurrently. For industrial wireless charging, the value of technology does not lie in pursuing the ultimate extremity of a single form, but in using diverse solutions to cover diverse scenarios.
