AGV wireless charging black tech: How does it work?

The secret of AGV wireless charging is hidden in an invisible energy transmission system, which acts like a magician to inject electricity into the moving robot. When the AGV drives into the charging area, the seemingly ordinary metal plate on the ground instantly activates - the close-packed copper coils inside pass 20kHz high-frequency current, forming a pulsating electromagnetic field. Even more amazing is the foreign body detection function: the charging board of an automobile factory once triggered the protection mechanism because of the wrench left by the worker, and the system cut off the power in 0.02 seconds, which is 5 times faster than the human blink.

 

The real game-changer of this technology is the concept of "fragmented charging". In the logistics warehouse, the AGV does not wait until the power runs out to charge, but "steals time" at each working node - when it waits for the robot arm to grab the goods in front of the shelf, the charging plate under the foot takes 18 seconds to supplement 3% of the power; When passing through the channel speed bump, the roller charging unit is activated by pressure induction and delivers 150W of power continuously. This ant moving replenishing strategy has reduced the daily charging downtime of AGV groups in an e-commerce warehouse by 427 hours, and the battery life has been extended by 2 years compared to deep charging and discharging.

 

In cutting-edge laboratories, scientists are trying to introduce magnetic resonance technology into AGV charging. By making the transmitter and receiver coils resonate at the same frequency, the energy is transferred like a tuning fork resonance, and the transmission distance is broken to 50cm. Even crazier is the idea of laying "charging roads" along the path of the AGV, which acts like surfing in wireless current as arrays of lower coils relay energy in the form of waves. Although the cost of these technologies is eight times that of traditional charging at this stage, an airport has begun to trial - baggage transport AGV at low speed through the bridge, the amount of electricity added per hour is enough to run 15 kilometers, completely farewell to the charging pile.
