In modern intelligent logistics systems, Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) have become indispensable due to their efficiency and precision. However, as AGVs become more widely used across various industries, their power supply issues have come to the forefront. Traditional wired charging methods can no longer meet the demands for fast charging and efficient operation. In this context, wireless charging technology, with its advantages of requiring no manual plugging and enabling charging anytime and anywhere, has emerged as a promising solution. Nevertheless, implementing wireless charging for AGVs presents several challenges and difficulties.

Therefore, in actual use, to ensure AGVs can operate efficiently throughout their work, the wireless charging system must improve energy transmission efficiency. This requires precise improvements in the design of the charging system, including the design of high-efficiency energy transmission coils, reasonable energy transfer paths, and more advanced adaptive control technologies.
Another challenge is the mobility and varied operation paths of AGVs, which complicates the implementation of wireless charging systems. AGVs frequently shuttle between storage, manufacturing, and logistics environments, and the deployment of charging points must consider the path planning and operation habits of the AGVs. This makes the arrangement of charging devices highly complex, and determining the optimal charging station layout becomes a technical challenge. Furthermore, AGVs need to be able to quickly recharge during short stopovers, placing higher demands on the power and charging speed of wireless charging equipment.
Environmental factors also present a significant difficulty for the application of AGV wireless charging technology. AGVs often operate in complex and variable industrial environments, where different floor materials and obstacles can affect wireless charging. In some harsh environments, magnetic field interference, dust, and humidity can further weaken the efficiency and reliability of wireless charging. Therefore, wireless charging systems need to have sufficient environmental adaptability and protective measures to ensure stable operation in diverse working conditions.
Safety is another critical issue that wireless charging technology for AGVs must address. During high-power transmission, the safety of electromagnetic radiation must be ensured, requiring rigorous electromagnetic compatibility testing of wireless charging equipment. Additionally, issues such as overheating and short circuits need to be prevented during charging to protect the equipment and surrounding environment. Thus, developing wireless charging technology with higher safety and stability is an urgent need.
Finally, from the perspectives of economic and operational feasibility, the deployment costs and maintenance requirements of wireless charging technology are crucial factors that cannot be ignored by enterprises. Compared to traditional charging methods, the current high cost of wireless charging devices may pose a barrier to large-scale adoption by businesses. In long-term industrial use, the durability of the equipment and ease of maintenance are also key factors in determining widespread application. Therefore, reducing the cost of wireless charging systems, extending the lifespan of equipment, and improving usability are critical to advancing AGV technology.
In summary, although the application of AGV wireless charging technology faces numerous challenges and difficulties, the field is steadily making breakthroughs amid technological advances. As wireless charging technology continues to mature, equipment transmission efficiency, safety, and economic viability are expected to further improve, allowing AGVs to play a role in a wider range of applications. In the future, as the demand for intelligent logistics grows, wireless charging technology will undoubtedly play an increasingly important role in the AGV industry, driving transformation and development across the entire logistics sector.
